Cabbage and Green Mango Dal

Ingredients :

Chopped Cabbage : 1 cup
Chopped Green Mango : 1/2 cup
Toor Dal : 1/2 cup
Green Chillies : 3
Dried Red Chillies : 1
Mustard Seeds : 1/4 tsp
Chana Dal : 1/4 tsp
Urad Dal : 1/4 tsp
Red Chilli Powder : 1/4 tsp
A big pinch of turmeric powder
A pinch of hing
Salt to taste
Curry Leaves : 1 stem
Oil : 2 tsp

Method :

Put the toor dal, chopped cabbage, chopped green chillies and 1 1/4 cups of water in a pressure cooker and cook for 3 whistles. Wash, peel and chop the mango into cubes and cook until soft. Heat oil in a vessel and add the mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal. When they start to splutter, add the green chillies, red chilli, curry leaves and hing and fry for few seconds. Then add the boiled mango pieces, toor dal mixture, salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes. Switch off the flame and serve with rice or roti.
